Childbirth Preparation Class {Day 1}

Today was Day 1 of our Childbirth Preparation Class. We are taking it at St Luke's Hospital (where I work and where Pierce will be delivered). We decided to take our time and instead of having it all day on a Saturday, we went for breaking up the class into 4 different sessions. The remaining classes will be held on the next three Tuesday's. This class entails becoming more physically, mentally and emotionally prepared for the birth of Pierce. It will include coaching, breathing and relaxation techniques as well as the birth process as a whole. We will learn more about pain management of labor and even the unplanned cesarean birth.

Day 1 began with us and 6 other couples. (And of course, small world, we even knew one couple!) I had been awaiting this day for months! Mainly because it shows how close we are to seeing Pierce, but also because I knew it would show Scottie how important he is in this process.

A few key things from today's class:

• The average labor is 12 to 16 hours!
• Only 12% of women's waters will break before they go into labor
• 25% of St Luke's patients will have a c-section
• There is no need to go to the hospital until contractions are 5 minutes apart

But most importantly, I am thinking we need to make our hospital bag now!!! Just in case... :) 

I can hardly wait for next week's class... 

34 weeks {What I Know Now}

• These last 6 weeks are going to go by SO SLOW... 
• Heartburn wakes me up each and every night, about twice a night and doesn't seem to go away but I just am so tired that I fall back asleep.
• I now get up 4 times a night thanks to my bladder.
• We should have registered for toilet paper!!! Cause we go through it like crazy!!
• My nesting 'rested' for about a week.... now I have all these baby goodies to put away.
• The dresser my dad made for Pierce turned out even better than I could have imagined. Stay tuned for pictures once I have the room cleaned up enough to take them!
• We have the best friends and family who have spoiled us with gifts!!!!!
• Finding that comfortable position to sleep in is still impossible.
• Pierce is COMPLETELY out of room! I find myself sitting in silence and just watching and feeling his every move.  Then guessing whether it is an elbow, his foot or his hand that he is pushing with.
• My dreams are crazy!

The diaper cakes are all taken apart!! It wasn't quite a week for me to get it done! Now to unroll them...

OB appt

Today was the OB appt we have been waiting for... well for months! Our OBGYN has not seen us for 2 months now!! He has been missed due to deliveries. Luckily we haven't had any questions and everything has been going well. We were anxious to see how Pierce was growing and if we were 'ahead' in any way. Turns out we are growing right on track... 33 1/2 weeks. I guess we will have a big baby!! 141 was his heartbeat as well. I know I state this over and over, but it still never gets old hearing his heart beat.

Next appointment - July 5th at 9:50am

Diaper Cakes

My Mom and Grandma made some beautiful diaper cakes for the decor at the shower yesterday. I didn't get any pictures of them there so I took some at home before I took on the challenge of taking them apart. They are SO cute!!!!

Baby Shower #1

Today was baby shower #1!

Thanks to my Mom, Grandma and Sister!! IT WAS PERFECT!! Tons of family members and friends were able to make it. Luckily we had it indoors as it rained almost the entire time. I left with a ton of amazing gifts. I can hardly wait to unpack them all in Pierce's room. Sounds like an up-all-nighter to me!! Ok.. probably not since I am already exhausted! Ha! I didn't even help pack up the car!

My Mom made this AMAZING cake to eat!!! She is talented!!!

We also had to get another cake from Costco.

My grandma's favorite game... guess the belly size!!! This one was pretty much perfect! Nice work Jen. She claims it's because I work with her and she sees it everyday... I think luck could have been part of it too.

The main question... where will all of this stuff go??? Unpacking here I come!!!

Baby Bump Pics!!

Yesterday my sister was nice enough to take some pictures of the growing baby bump. Here are a few of my favorites!!!!

32 weeks {What I Know Now}

• Working three 12 hour days in a row, was SO much easier 3 months ago. Now my ankles blow up like balloons to the point of where my shoes leave indents in my feet!!! 
• No longer can I lay down in bed while using the laptop... as my belly cuts off the bottom part of the screen!
• I have my co-workers 'nesting' at work as well! {I guess it's a combo of nesting and spring cleaning!}
• Pierce is moving so much now that bystanders can see it! I was sitting in a work meeting just Wednesday and found 4 co-workers just watching my belly move!!!
• I catch myself standing with my hands on my hips - as it seems to help me breath better.
• A co-worker of mine who is just 4 weeks ahead of me, just had her baby girl Thursday. Holding her yesterday is a totally different experience knowing my little man is coming soon, than it would have been if I wasn't pregnant.
• Taking naps are even better today than they were last week. I think the pups agree as they snuggle up with me.
• I fall asleep faster and harder but seem to wake up at least once a night to a cough attack. I have also been known to sleep through my own cough attacks... but they wake up Scottie... strange??
• Painting the bookcase months ago was MUCH easier than painting the dresser today. Thank you sister for helping!
• Another increase in heartburn has began...
